RAF Newton pillboxes & runway

There are many pillboxes within the site that was RAF Newton. Many of these are on private property and have lead to be in a state of collapse.

I managed to get permission from a farmer to visit two of the three that remain on the site (although one is currently being demolished to be used as hardcore).

This pillbox is a type FW3/23, reference S0000689. It is in a good overall condition.

This pillbox is a type FW3/22, reference S0000682. It is starting to crack and become unstable.

This pillbox is again a type FW3/22, reference S0008634. This pillbox is due for demolition shortly due to the structures instability.

As you can see the runway & taxiways have been taken over by trees, grass and other foliage.
